The former Dutch prime minister and his wife died hand in hand with the couple's euthanasia

The former Dutch Prime Minister, the Catholic Dries van Agt, has chosen to resort to euthanasia, hand in hand, with his wife Eugenie. They were both 93 years old. The Guardian reports it.

Their deaths, which occurred last Monday, confirm a growing trend in the Netherlands in favor of so-called "two-person euthanasia". A phenomenon noticed for the first time in 2020, the year in which euthanasia was granted to 26 people, and at the same time, to their partners.

The numbers grew to 32 pairs the following year and 58 in 2022.
