Violent earthquake off the coast of the Indonesian archipelago.

The earthquake occurred at 12:20 local time (4:20 in Italy).

According to data from the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv) (which estimates the magnitude of the event to be 7.1) and the US geological monitoring service Usgs (which has revised down the magnitude from 7.6 to 7.3), the earthquake it had a hypocenter about 15 kilometers deep and an epicenter in the Flores Sea about 100 kilometers from the city of Maumere.

It is not yet known whether there is damage to people or things. But in the meantime, the Pacific Tsunami Alert Center (Ptwc) has issued a warning for possible anomalous waves on the coasts within a thousand kilometers from the epicenter of the quake.
