Over 70 victims of an explosion in Haiti where a tanker loaded with petrol overturned and exploded as a crowd tried to steal the fuel. 75 bodies have been identified, dozens of burns, including serious ones.

The incident took place in Cap Haitien. According to an initial reconstruction, the driver tried to avoid a motorcycle, ran into an obstacle and the truck stopped the race by lying on its side. In a few minutes, many people surrounded the heavy vehicle when suddenly the detonation broke out. A fireball enveloped men, women and children and set fire to various homes.

Prime Minister Ariel Henry announced three days of national mourning and the dispatch of field hospitals via Twitter.
