Ukrainian authorities issued a nationwide air strike alert this morning , in response to a Russian missile attack on Kiev . President Vladimir Putin is “launching a missile strike” on the capital, Ukrainian Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak said on Telegram.

Explosions have already been heard in the city , as confirmed by Mayor Vitaly Klitschko who also spoke of an " enemy drone having been spotted over the centre of the capital ".

Russian forces reportedly launched a combined missile and drone strike , the first on Kiev in 73 days: air-launched cruise missiles, ballistic missiles (KN-23, KN-24 and Iskander-M) and drones (Shahed, Geran, Gerbera and Parodya) were used.

The air raid alert was raised at 7:30 local time (6:30 in Italy), when drones were detected coming from the east. At the same time, cruise missiles were already approaching the region. The attack lasted more than 2 hours and at the moment there is no precise information on casualties and damage.
