Russian forces "have surrounded Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region, and assault troops are taking control of Ukrainian military crossings across the Oskol River."
This was announced by Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
President Vladimir Putin, visiting a military command post of what he still calls a "special operation in Ukraine," ordered "measures to ensure the surrender of Ukrainian troops and minimize the loss of human life," according to TASS.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, up to 5,000 Ukrainian soldiers were surrounded in the Kupyansk area and more than 5,500 in the Krasnoarmeisk (Pokrovsk) area.
THE NUCLEAR MISSILE
Meanwhile, Moscow claims to have successfully tested the new nuclear-powered 9M730 Burevestnik intercontinental ballistic missile: "It covered a distance of 14,000 kilometers in 15 hours," announced the Chief of the General Staff, specifying that the test took place on October 21. For President Vladimir Putin, the missile "has no equal in the world," according to Russian news agencies.
