The death toll from the collapse of the roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo has risen to 225 victims and 189 injured, according to Dominican Health Minister Victor Atallah, who said the rescue phase is complete and that work is now underway to return the bodies to their families.
"We have completed the rescue phase because we have already combed and checked the entire area and all the bodies have been recovered, along with all the survivors," the minister added to CNN. The accident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, shocked the country and three days of national mourning were declared following the tragedy .
