River trip ends in tragedy: 11 children drown

Tragedy in Indonesia, during a school initiative along the banks of the Cileuer River, in the province of West Java.

Here eleven middle school students drowned after falling into the water. Another 10 children were instead rescued.

According to an initial reconstruction of the incident, 150 very young students of an Islamic school were participating in the cleaning of the river. Divided into groups, they held hands, but suddenly one of them ended up in the water, dragging twenty other companions with him.

The rescuers were then able to rescue ten, for another eleven children, unfortunately, there was nothing to do.
