He ended up in the trap of an organized gang specialized in robberies and extortions, after being lured on a dating site. This would be the main lead that Colombian investigators are following as they investigate the death of Alessandro Coatti, 38, a biologist originally from Ferrara who was killed and dismembered in the Santa Marta area . This is what South American media write, citing sources within the judicial police.

Arriving alone on April 3 and staying in the center of Santa Marta, Coatti would have ended up in a trap, through a dating platform to which he was registered. He would have seen a person and at that point, perhaps, the robbery would have degenerated: he would have been kidnapped, drugged and murdered.

Colombian authorities have reportedly identified four people involved, formally wanted them, and carried out searches.

Investigators believe it was an organized group and the house where the crime took place has also been found, an abandoned house in the San José del Pando neighborhood, where traces of blood were found.
