The Swiss are preparing to approve the referendum on the right to civil marriage for same-sex couples .

According to the first trends developed by the research institute gfs.bern, shortly after the closing of the polls, this would be the prevailing orientation of the Swiss electorate.

The first projections speak of 64% of votes in favor, while definitive results are already available for the canton of Glarus, where the text was approved with 61.12% of the votes, and Nidwalden, where the yes reached 61, 57%.

To support the positive outcome of the consultation - for which there is no quorum - the government and also some religious circles, excluding the Swiss Bishops' Conference.

If what is shown in the projections is confirmed by the count, the civil code will be amended to introduce the possibility of marrying for homosexual couples and access in Switzerland to medically assisted procreation through sperm donation for couples made up of women.

However, surrogacy and egg donation remain prohibited.
