UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine Francesca Albanese has been criticized for her speech at a conference in Doha, in which she argued that "Israel is a common enemy of all humanity."
These statements sparked strong reactions from the international community. France called for his resignation because, explained Foreign Minister Barrot, "he has insulted Israel, spreads hatred, and betrays the spirit of the United Nations."
In Italy, the Brothers of Italy party was among the first to support Paris's request: "Albanese has an anti-Semitic profile," said Fabio Rampelli, Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies. The League followed suit, having also submitted a resolution calling for his immediate resignation.
For its part, the Union of Jewish Communities branded Albanese's words as "crazy" , denouncing "their dangerousness and closeness to the highest ranks of Hamas".
