Aggression in the shadow of terrorism in Brussels. Two policemen were targeted by a man armed with a knife: one died, the other was wounded.

It happened in the Schaerbeek neighborhood, near the Gare du Nord.

The person in charge was blocked by a third agent and, according to witnesses, he shouted "Allah Akbar" ("God is great") before taking action. His name would be placed on the list of "potential violent extremists", local media write.

The Brussels prosecutor has not officially confirmed that it has launched an investigation into terrorism.

Of YM, 31, it is known that a few hours before the episode he had shouted threatening phrases at the police station in Evere, a neighborhood not far from the place of the murder.

The capital then comes to terms with fear again and is no stranger to similar episodes.

Salah Abdeslam, one of the members of the Isis commando of the Bataclan attack in Paris, was born in this city and was arrested in the Molenbeek neighborhood. In the past also the triple attack, claimed by the Islamic State: two at the Zaventem airport, one at the Maalbeek metro station. The dead were 35, including the 3 kamikaze bombers.
