Pakistan has launched a counterattack in the face of what it calls “Indian aggression.” Islamabad forces have struck India’s Pathankot airport and Udhampur air base in a “tit for tat” retaliation, state TV reported.
The army said it had launched Operation Bunyanun Marsoos, a name taken from a Quranic verse meaning "unbreakable wall." Indian air bases used to launch missiles against Pakistan were also targeted. After the attack on three Pakistani military bases, the government wrote in X that "India must now prepare for response."
Meanwhile, G7 member countries have called for an "immediate de-escalation" between India and Pakistan and have called on the two nuclear powers, engaged in their most serious military confrontation in two decades, "to exercise maximum restraint".
“The continued military escalation constitutes a serious threat to regional stability,” the G7 said in a statement, encouraging the two countries “to engage in direct dialogue with a view to a peaceful solution.”
