Officer shoots and kills: executed by lethal injection

Texas does not curb executions.

Wesley Ruiz , 43, sentenced to death 15 years ago, was executed by lethal injection . The man killed Dallas Police Officer Mark Nix in 2007 after a high-speed car chase. Ruiz's car had skidded off the side of the road and Nix had smashed the vehicle's window with a baton. The 43-year-old thus fired a gunshot at the officer .

“I'd like to apologize to Mark and the Nix family. I want to say to all my family and friends around the world thank you for supporting me. To my children, stand up and continue to make me proud, don't worry about me, I'll be fine ,” said the convict before being subjected to lethal injection.
