Alexey Navalny remains in prison.

Vladimir Putin's main opponent, already convicted of fraud, has had his appeal against the 19-year prison sentence imposed on him last month rejected by Russian justice.

The charge that earned him the heavy prison sentence, which is added to the previous ones, is that of "extremism".

The first degree conviction was issued in August: all the organizations linked to Navalny were accused of extremism, including his Anti-Corruption Foundation which with some video investigations has repeatedly attempted to discredit Putin and his allies.
