" They can steal everything, but never a smile . A big hug to the thief!". The president of the Regional Council of Sardinia, Michele Pais , smiles at the ugly misfortune he suffered in Brussels, where he was on a mission to participate in some important meetings with the spokespersons of European countries.

In the hotel where he was staying he was robbed of his backpack with his wallet, personal and identity documents, ATMs, various objects, credit card and work documentation inside . “The only object, which survived the theft, was the mobile phone that fortunately I had in my hand, a great inconvenience, especially when you are abroad”, underlines Pais.

"Fortunately I have just solved the biggest problem of the identity document , useful for the return trip to Sardinia, thanks to the service provided by the Italian Consulate, who intervened, I must say, with the utmost availability and courtesy".

The President of the Regional Council, originally from Alghero, thanked the officials in Brussels and at the Committee of the Regions for the support received.
