Five high-value watches stolen and a couple – a domestic worker and her husband – arrested : this is the story involving former Real Madrid goalkeeper and 2010 World Cup winner with Spain, Iker Casillas.
The case is reported by several Iberian media.
As also confirmed by the Spanish National Police, which, however, did not explicitly name Casillas, the thefts took place inside the former footballer's home in Madrid. Two of the five stolen watches were recovered, while the arrested couple, according to several sources, were granted conditional release with precautionary measures after their arrest.
When they were intercepted by the police, the two were about to leave Spain. The newspaper El País reports that Casillas filed a complaint about the incident a few days ago, after realizing that the original watches had been stolen one by one and replaced by someone with replicas .
In an audio broadcast by the TV channel Telecinco, the man suspected of the thefts confessed to stealing two of the five missing watches, explaining that he had done so to repay accumulated debts and maintaining that his wife was unaware of his intentions to commit an illegal act.
