“There was an agreement with Ukraine to end the war, but Boris Johnson did not agree and called for the continuation of hostilities.”

This was revealed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a press conference in Skopje, Macedonia, on the occasion of the summit of OSCE foreign ministers.

According to Lavrov, the former English prime minister, at the end of May 2022 he was in Istanbul, Turkey, where negotiations were taking place between Moscow and Kiev. And a general agreement had in fact been reached, as also confirmed by one of the participants in the negotiations, from Zelensky's group, David Rahamja, member of the delegation in Istanbul. But the Kremlin's head of diplomacy explained that «Boris Johnson came and said: “No, you should continue the war”», thus ruining the agreement.

Also at the summit, the Russian Foreign Minister accused EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken of being "cowards" for having "fled" from Skopje without meeting him.

“They are just cowards, they are afraid of any honest conversation with the facts in hand,” Lavrov said after the meeting.
