In Ukraine , the race against time to evacuate the populations of areas at risk continues after the bombings that blew up the Nova Kakhovka dam in the Kherson region.

"This morning the average level of floods is 5.61 meters: 600 square kilometers of the Kherson region are under water, 32% of which are on the right bank and 68% on the left bank," the head of the regional military administration Oleksandr Prokudin.

Yesterday, despite extensive flooding , the Russians carried out 34 bombing raids, launched 193 mortar shells, cannon fire, Grad rocket and drone strikes , and also fired two artillery shells into populated residential neighborhoods in the city of Kherson, partly submerged by the waters of the Dnipro.

Also the house-museum of the famous Ukrainian painter Polina Raiko ends up under water in the country, due to the destruction of the dam. The building is located in the city of Oleshky, which was particularly affected by the flood.

Meanwhile, speaking to MIT in Boston, former premier Mario Draghi recalled, regarding the events in Ukraine, how there is "no alternative for the United States, Europe and their allies other than ensuring that Ukraine wins this war". Accepting a Russian victory, Draghi specified, would mean inflicting "a fatal blow to the EU" .

«For Europe, winning this war means having a stable peace – added the former Italian prime minister – and today this prospect appears difficult. The invasion of Russia is part of a long-term delusional strategy by President Putin: to recover the former influence of the Soviet Union and the existence of his government is now intimately linked to its success. It would take internal political change in Moscow for Russia to abandon its goals, but there is no sign that such a change will occur.
