Istanbul court judges have upheld the arrest of Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu in a "corruption" investigation, Anadolu reported.

Imamoglu had been in custody since Wednesday on several charges, including "corruption" and "aiding and abetting terrorism."

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on X that at least 323 people were arrested last night during demonstrations in support of Istanbul's mayor. Some protesters, he said, threw acid at a police officer.

Clashes between protesters and security forces occurred not only in Istanbul, but also in Ankara and Izmir. Already during the demonstrations of the previous day, the police had arrested 343 people in Istanbul and other Turkish cities.
