Israel continues to tighten its grip on Hezbollah, but the military operation in Lebanon goes hand in hand with preparations to strike Iran, in response to the 200 missiles launched by Tehran last Tuesday.
Everything is happening in close coordination with the US, from where confirmation has arrived that the Jewish state wants to strike a blow that will bring the Islamic Republic to its knees: Joe Biden himself has made it known that he is discussing with his ally the possibility of raids against oil installations.
In anticipation of the attack on Iran, which according to reports from Jerusalem will take place in the next few days, the Jewish state's fighter jets have continued to bomb Beirut to destroy the nerve centers of the Shiite movement : one raid reportedly hit the intelligence headquarters targeting Hezbollah leader Hashem Safi a-Din, Hassan Nasrallah's probable successor.
Meanwhile, on the southern front, the IDF is pushing to push back the enemy with ground troops as well, ordering the evacuation of civilians across the Litani River.
The large-scale attack launched by Iran on Israeli soil , to avenge the deaths of Hassan Nasrallah and Ismail Haniyeh, was decidedly more incisive than the one in April, with more powerful missiles arriving at their destination in a few minutes , some of which managed to elude Israeli defenses by hitting military bases. Enough to convince Benyamin Netanyahu that it is necessary to respond to the enemy where it hurts the most , and therefore not only the bases from which the ballistic missiles were launched, but also the infrastructures that keep a country with an already shaky economy afloat .
In relation to these plans, Washington has essentially vetoed the option of bombing nuclear sites , which according to the Israeli Prime Minister are the places where Tehran is preparing to build an atomic bomb. Now, however, it has emerged from the White House that attacking oil installations, essential for exports and internal energy supplies, is a possibility that the two partners are "discussing". So much so that crude oil prices immediately skyrocketed on the New York Stock Exchange.
Israeli preparations are reportedly almost complete. Despite the holiday, the Jewish New Year, Netanyahu has held high-level consultations to decide how and when to act. Channel 12 TV, citing sources familiar with the dossier, spoke of a possible upcoming phone call between Netanyahu and Biden. To give the green light to the blitz "within a few days" .
From Tehran, the regime's concerns were expressed in the form of a threat to the G7, which was accused of being "biased and irresponsible" in its support for Israel. A warning launched on the eve of what will be a day of great symbolic value today: Nasrallah's funeral, with the sermon of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the Friday prayer . Also today, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will arrive in Beirut to meet Lebanese officials.
