Over 96,000 overdose deaths in one year in the United States of America is the new record.

The sad figure, recorded between April 2020 and last March, emerges from the data released by the Center for Health Statistics.

To be precise, reports the CNN, in these 12 months the US has registered 96,779 drug victims, with an increase of 29.6% compared to the previous year.

The state of Vermont is the one that has marked the highest increase (+ 85.1%), in the states of New Hampshire, New Jersey and South Dakota alone the deaths from overdose have decreased.

Opioids caused the most fatalities, followed by synthetic opioids excluding methadone, which caused the lowest number of deaths.
