To introduce the obligation of the Green pass to access restaurants, cinemas, gyms and various events, Switzerland chooses the path of consultation. Today citizens are called to express their opinion on the pass in a referendum in which to vote "yes" or "no".

According to forecasts, 61 percent of those entitled will choose "yes".

For the Swiss this is the second time they are called to vote on the health measures adopted to tackle the pandemic: on 13 June a first version of the law had already been submitted to a popular vote, but at that time the Green pass was not yet foreseen. Also on that occasion over 60% of the voters voted in favor.

To hold a referendum it is necessary to collect at least 50,000 signatures.

The country currently has a vaccination rate lower than that of other European states, equal to 65% of the population, and new infections are growing daily and are around 6,000 every 24 hours.
