More than 5 thousand detainees will be released by the Burma military junta. These are people who were arrested as a result of their participation in the anti-coup protests.
As leader Min Aung Hlaing explained, there are a total of 5,636 inmates who will rediscover their freedom at the Thadingyut festival, which is celebrated this Wednesday.
The announcement follows Asean's recent decision not to invite Min Aung Hlaing to the next summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations scheduled for October 26-28.
