Idaho like Texas. The Republican governor of the state, Brad Little, has signed and enacted the anti-abortion provision.
A very stringent law, just like the one that has caused so much controversy in Texas: the termination of pregnancy is prohibited after the sixth week.
Also on this occasion there is no lack of criticism from the White House, which defines the law as "devastating for the women of the state". An "unacceptable" rule, reads a note, against which the Biden administration "will continue to fight in support of women's freedom of decision".
Similar Texas law was at the center of a legal battle: first suspended by a federal judge, it was reinstated by the New Orleans Federal Court of Appeals. The Supreme Court also ruled last December, rejecting another attempt to block the provision.
The Idaho bill includes exceptions that cover cases of rape, incest and medical emergencies. In Texas, on the other hand, a pregnancy cannot be terminated even in the case of rape or incest.
