In two minutes he drank an entire bottle of a well-known bitter and died shortly after. The tragedy took place in South Africa, in the village of Mashamba, and the victim - whose name was not disclosed - is a man aged between 30 and 35 who was participating in a binge drinking competition, the so-called "binge alcoholic ”, a game that cost him his life.

It seems that there was money up for grabs, a very low amount but it was enough to trigger the desire for victory.

A heart attack or stroke could have caused the death. The man felt ill immediately and was taken to hospital but any help was useless: alcohol intoxication caused permanent damage which resulted in the collapse of the organs.
