Giant fire in Berlin: Grunewald forest on fire, trains stopped and motorways blocked

Giant fire in Berlin where the forest of Grunewald , in the western part of the city, burns.

The fire, according to the media, was caused by numerous explosions in an ammunition and explosives depot of the capital's police. Since this morning, the succession of detonations has made the extinguishing operations difficult.

The fire currently affects an area of about 1.5 hectares , which has been surrounded by firefighters. However, the firefighters cannot approach the depot yet.

Several railway lines in the city were interrupted, as well as sections of the motorway.
