Fatal accident in the mountains, on the Chamonix side of the Mont Blanc massif. Those who lost their lives were Adèle Milloz, a 26-year-old former ski mountaineering champion and aspiring French mountain guide, and another 30-year-old mountaineer.

The bodies of the two victims were found along a slope of the Aiguille du Peigne (3,192 meters).

Other climbers had raised the alarm while traveling the same route.

The French gendarmerie, who intervened on the spot by helicopter from Chamonix, ruled out the possibility of detaching a landslide, adding that the climb was not prohibited. An investigation is underway to shed light on the causes of the accident.

Milloz was world champion in sprint and individual ski mountaineering in 2017, European champion 2018 in sprint and fifth at Pierra Menta 2018. She was training at the Chamonix national ski and mountaineering school to become a mountain guide.
