A 28-year-old man was arrested last night in South Yorkshire, England, on suspicion of being responsible for the murder of former British MP Ann Widdecombe, CNN reports, citing a statement from Devon and Cornwall Police.

According to law enforcement, the suspect, a white British citizen, is currently in custody. Investigators have stated that, at the current stage of the investigation, there is no evidence to suggest that the former MP's murder was politically motivated or an act of terrorism.

Widdecombe, a champion of the Eurosceptic British right, was found dead in her home, where she was reportedly attacked to death last Wednesday.
