There is psychosis in Mexico after the spread of news about sweets contaminated with synthetic opioids and distributed to children in various states of the country.

Fentanyl in the USA has caused hundreds of overdoses among young people and adolescents to the point of becoming a national emergency and is now generating a real alarm in Mexico , considered by the authorities to be the gateway for the substance into the USA.

The panic arose after a parent published, on a school's WhatsApp group, an image of the candy from a well-known national brand with the alarming "contaminated" warning next to the document from the health authorities of the State of Baja California in which it certified the presence of fentanyl in the product, which is very popular among children. The news quickly went viral and similar cases were also reported in Sinaloa and Tamaulipas.

In the last few hours, on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (Apec) meeting in San Francisco, the Mexican president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, guaranteed his US counterpart, Joe Biden, his commitment to fighting trafficking in narcotic substance.
