New “massive” Russian air strikes hit the Ukrainian cities of Kiev and Odessa on the night from Monday to Tuesday, killing two people, causing numerous injuries and hitting a maternity hospital as well as several residential buildings .
“Russia lies every day about its desire for peace and attacks people every day. It is time to impose sanctions. It is time to support Ukraine with weapons. It is time to show that democracy has power,” commented on Telegram the chief of staff of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Andriy Yermak .
"The enemy attacked Odessa massively with drones. Civilian infrastructure was damaged and there are fires. The Russians hit a maternity ward, an emergency room and some residential buildings," he said, adding that the maternity ward had been evacuated in time.
In Kiev, several people were also injured in an airstrike, also described as "massive" by Mayor Vitali Klitschko , who reported several buildings on fire. A total of 315 drones and seven missiles were launched, including two of North Korean manufacture .
In Russia, where Ukraine is also stepping up drone strikes on strategic infrastructure, 13 airports had to be closed overnight for security reasons, including the four airports in Moscow and the one in St. Petersburg.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the United States and Europe to take “concrete action” against Russia: “It is crucial that the response to this Russian attack, as to other similar attacks, is not the silence of the world, but concrete action. Action by America, which has the power to force Russia to make peace. Action by Europe, which has no choice but to be strong .”
