Dead and injured in South Africa following the collapse of a dam in a mine. The accident, which took place in the Jagersfontein area, caused floods that wiped out homes and cars. A river of mud and water poured into a nearby residential area.

The confirmed victims are 3, dozens of people have been rescued.

State-owned electric company Eskom said in a statement that Jagersfontein ran out of electricity after one of its underground power plants was "shrouded in mud", stating that "it is impossible to estimate when the (electricity) supply will be restored or to determine the 'extent of damage ".
