It is now a total impasse in France, with Macron having only 245 seats against the 341 he had in the first term and the 289 needed to have an absolute majority . The Nupes, the left-wing coalition led by Melenchon, has 150 deputies. Then at 89 there is Le Pen, at 61 the Republican right.

As is customary after the legislative elections, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne resigned this morning, immediately rejected by the president, so that the "government can remain in office and act in these days", the Elysée specified.

To get out of the corner, the president has started consultations. The first to cross the heavy door of the Elysée was the president of the Républicains, Christian Jacob, who however immediately ruled out any coalition pact with the majority of Ensemble !. " I reiterated to the president that entering into what could be a betrayal of our constituents is out of the question," he said at the end of the interview with Macron, adding: "We campaigned by the opposition, we remain in the opposition in a determined but responsible way" .

After Jacob, it was the turn of the socialist secretary (PS) adhering to Nupes, Olivier Faure, who said he was "willing" to "progress" together if the executive adopts measures in favor of purchasing power, in particular an increase of the minimum wage .

Expected in the president's agenda are other face to face with Marine Le Pen - now with 89 deputies at the Assemblée, a record for the former Front National - and with other Nupes exponents: from the communist leader, Fabien Roussel (PCF), all ecologist Julien Bayou (EELV) to managers of France Insoumise of Mélenchon (LFI). Melenchon who intends to file a motion against the government on July 5.
