Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was arrested at dawn on an order from Brazil's Supreme Court, at the request of the Federal Police: a precautionary measure to ensure public order.

Bolsonaro, under house arrest since August 4, was taken to the Federal Police Headquarters, where he is being held in a state room reserved for high-ranking officials. Arrested at 6:00 a.m., he arrived at the headquarters at 6:35 a.m.

The decision comes after his son, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, called a public vigil, which authorities deemed a risk to citizens and officials.
