Israeli air forces attacked the southeastern suburbs of Beirut in the early hours of today, killing two and wounding four , after the army ordered the evacuation of several buildings in the Hezbollah stronghold.

These are the first Israeli attacks on the Lebanese capital in nearly a week .

Meanwhile, the New York Times reports that Iran's supreme leader Khamenei gave the order on Monday to prepare to attack Israel . According to Iranian sources, Khamenei made the decision after examining a detailed military report on the damage caused by the Israeli attack on October 26.

According to Khamenei, the scale of Israel's attack was too great to ignore and not responding would mean admitting defeat.
