Avalanche overwhelms skiers in the Goms valley, one victim
With the exception of three other ski mountaineers, it was an Italian who lost his life

An avalanche in the Goms valley in Switzerland hit a group of ski mountaineers, killing one.
The tragedy took place in the Canton of Valais, on the border with the Ossola Valley. The victim is a 68-year-old Ossola, while a companion was recovered by rescuers and transported to hospital, a third was only touched by the avalanche and the fourth was not run over.
