In the general elections in Australia, the Labor Party of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wins.
It was Albanese himself who claimed the success, promising to lead the nation "in a difficult period of global uncertainty."
“Thank you to the Australian people for the opportunity to continue to serve the greatest nation in the world,” he told a cheering crowd at an election party in Sydney.
Liberal Party leader Peter Dutton conceded defeat and said he had held talks with Albanese. “I called the prime minister to congratulate him on his success,” he said. He added: “We have not done well enough in this campaign, that is clear and I take full responsibility for that.”
