"Encourage a dialogue between Kiev and Moscow that leads to peace? I believe in it and I pray". This is how the president of the CEI and archbishop of Bologna, Matteo Zuppi , had welcomed in recent days the delicate mission entrusted to him by Pope Francis , to achieve "a just peace" between Russia and Ukraine by supporting "human gestures that help to ease tensions ».

Today and tomorrow, the high prelate's visit to Kiev to the war-torn places is scheduled, with the main objective "to listen in depth to the Ukrainian authorities about the possible ways to achieve peace" and "to ease tensions".

«What Pope Francis has asked of me and everyone, in his passion for peace and in not accepting that there are wars - Zuppi had reported the day after the assignment of the task by Bergoglio - is an aspiration that, faced to the horrors of the war which takes away all rights and tramples on dignity, especially the little ones should be protected ".
