The Indonesian authorities have provided an initial partial assessment of the tragedy that occurred Monday night off the island of Ternate, in the Moluccas archipelago, where a ferry sank.
After the communication on the 13 missing, nine bodies were recovered, four other people are still missing.
On board were 77 passengers plus crew members.
At the time of the accident, a rescue worker explained, there was bad weather in the area.
Shipwrecks are frequent in Indonesia, an archipelago of about 17,000 islands where maritime communications play an essential role, despite the often precarious security conditions.
