A 5.8 magnitude earthquake shook buildings in Melbourne, Australia. Fear among the population and many have taken to the streets.

The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, occurred in the eastern area of the city but was felt distinctly even hundreds of kilometers away.

According to Geoscience Australia the epicenter was in Mansfield, State of Victoria.

There are numerous reports of damage to buildings and several apartment buildings in central Melbourne have been evacuated.
