Spain won the Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, beating England 1-0 in the final in Sydney in front of over 75,000 people.

The Iberian national team, led by Jorge Vilda, prevailed over the European champions thanks to a goal by Olga Carmona Garcia in the first half.

In the second half, the red furies missed the possible 2-0 penalty, saved by Jenifer Hermoso.
