The smile, the affability, the tireless action to promote wheelchair basketball that with the Anmic has been able to bring to the top of Italy and Europe. Angelo Vitiello, who left an indelible mark on sport, died at the age of 65.

As president of Anmic he was able to bring the Sassari team to heights that no other Sardinian team has managed to reach. First promotion to the top flight in 1998, then domination in the early years of the third millennium: six league titles in a row, from 2000 to 2005, three Italian Cups, six Italian Super Cups (the last in 2012). Above all, he accomplished a sensational feat in the 2001/2002 season with a sort of Grand Slam: Italian Super Cup, Italian Cup, Scudetto and Champions Cup.

Even after closing its doors with the Anmic, Angelo Vitiello continued to promote sport for the disabled with the Polisportiva Sandalyon Sassari, which organized and collaborated for sports integration events. Always with a smile, always with energy.
