Volotea ready to appeal after the exclusion from the tender for the management of flights in territorial continuity to and from Sardinia due to "lack of documentation".

This is stated in a note released by the low-cost airline, according to which the decision is "senseless and incredible".

The company also underlines how the notice to participate in the tender "was very tight, less than a week after receiving the invitations". And he confirms - in fact - that he has given a mandate to his lawyers to appeal to the competent offices.

"The carrier - continues the press release - will immediately use all available local remedies. Since the situation is a clear violation of EU law, the company does not rule out filing a complaint with the European Commission's Public Procurement Unit in Brussels. ".

Still, the carrier continues: "The company took part in the tender by presenting all 6 offers in order to ensure, in the best possible way, Sardinian territorial continuity with connections departing from the airports of Cagliari, Alghero and Olbia to Milan Linate and Rome. Fiumicino. The offer of the carrier, considerably lower than that presented by the other company in the tender, would allow a saving for the Region of Sardinia, and for its taxpayers, of approximately 3 million euros. Volotea presented, in fact, the best economic offers, with discounts of 23.5%, to manage the routes in the airports of Cagliari and Olbia and 21.5% for Alghero ”.

Then the comment: “Always attentive to the needs of the inhabitants of Sardinia, Volotea has been successfully operating its flights for 10 years in Italy and has become one of the most reliable and attentive carriers among the airlines.

Volotea strongly believes in the potential of the Sardinian territory and has been committed, since the start of its activities, to offer the inhabitants of the island flights with convenient timetables to an increasing number of destinations. Finally, in Sardinia, numerous investments by the company have been concentrated: 2 of the 7 Italian bases of the carrier are in two island airports, one in Cagliari and one in summer in Olbia: this choice has allowed the creation of about 100 jobs, to support of the local economic fabric ".
