Italy qualified for the semifinals of the women's volleyball world championships that are being played between the Netherlands and Poland.

In the quarterfinals, the blues beat China 3-1 (25-16, 25-22, 13-25, 25-17).

With Alessia Orro in the direction , the blues won the first two sets, conceded the third, and then finally took home the victory and the fifth world semifinal in the history of women's Italian volleyball.

Now Mazzanti's girls are waiting for the winner of Brazil-Japan, for the next challenge - scheduled for Thursday 13 October again in Apeldoorn - with the coveted final at stake.
