Reggina president Luca Gallo was arrested by the Guardia di Finanza on charges of self- laundering and failure to pay VAT .

Gallo, who in addition to being president of the club that plays in Serie B , operates in the sector of business support services for the management and supply of personnel, was placed under house arrest.

The military also implemented a decree for the preventive seizure of assets for a value of over 11 million euros and the shares of 17 companies.

The precautionary measures were issued by the Judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Rome, at the request of the Public Prosecutor, in order to prevent the repetition of the crimes.

THE INVESTIGATIONS - The investigations that led to the arrest of Luca Gallo concerned the financial flows between the numerous companies belonging to the suspect. The core business, the investigators say, is represented by the supply of manpower, in particular by the supply and management of personnel made available to third-party companies, located throughout the country and operating in the most varied fields, from catering to hotel services, from cleaning of logistics and porterage activities. Overall, the companies covered by the seizure employ over 1,700 employees.

VAT EVASION - According to the investigators, some companies attributable to Gallo have carried out "an activity of providing personnel using the scheme of the fictitious service contract and the self-financing of the business activity through the systematic omitted payment of taxes, in particular, VAT and withholdings, as well as contributions relating to employees ".

In this context, Gallo had already been the recipient, in 2021, of a preventive seizure decree of assets issued by the Gip of the Court of Rome for almost 7 million.

From subsequent investigations, continues the Finance Department, "serious circumstantial elements have been acquired regarding the systematic 're-use' of large amounts of income from the omitted payment of VAT to acquire control and management" of Reggina, which "is not subject of the precautionary measure issued by the Judicial Authority ".
