In the game of cross-blackmail – I tax you, you tax me – Sardinia is among the regions at greatest risk: American duties threaten the health of an export that has grown more than all the others in the last year (+16.7% on 2023, no region has done better in Italy) and according to several observers was aiming to strengthen further during 2025.

Donald Trump has shattered dreams of glory and shuffled the cards. The announcement of a 200% markup on "all wines, champagnes and alcoholic products" , combined with the clouds that have been gathering for a few weeks over Pecorino Romano (for which a possible loss of 40 million in turnover out of 150 million in exports to the USA is estimated), could be reflected on the Island more than elsewhere.

The Cia, the Italian Confederation of Farmers, has done the math: «Sardinia and Tuscany are the territories most exposed to star-spangled taxation». Concern is spreading in Sardinian wineries.
