Italy at the top of the general ranking of European "tourism reputation".

The ranking of EU countries that stand out for their "fame" due to their scenic beauty and tourist and cultural attractions was drawn up by Demoskopika .

On the podium, after Italy, there are Spain and Germany .

According to the study on the reputation of regional tourism systems - which this year extends to the European context with the European Tourism Reputation Index (Etr Index) - the Belpaese with 109.1 points is first in the general ranking with primacy in 3 indicators out of 5 (destination search, popularity, Tripadvisor confidence destination) and obtains the silver medal in the evaluation of the accommodation system.

However, institutional communication on social networks needs to be improved. The institutional channels monitored (Enit, Italia.it) are in fact not adequately exploited unlike what is done by some competitors (Spain, Portugal, Greece and Germany) making

Italy slipped to fifth place in the partial Social Reputation Rating ranking (101.8 points).

Among the regions, Sardinia is not on the podium: in first place, in fact, is Trentino Alto Adige, followed by Sicily and Veneto.

«The study highlights the need to align with the strategies of our main European competitors in the use of social pages by implementing more incisive actions to promote the Italian tourist offer», explains the president of Demoskopika, Raffaele Rio.

«Being the most desired and popular nation is undoubtedly a fact that makes us look at the present with satisfaction and the future with optimism», commented the Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanché . Adding: «However, it is not enough for us to be the most sought after destination online, we cannot stop at this: we must aspire to make Italy capable of presenting the best tourist offer, in terms of richness, depth and quality, so as to be not only the sexiest destination on the internet, but also the most chosen one."
