Federalberghi-Confcommercio of Sassari has elaborated in the last few days, September included, the seasonal trend of the hotel room market, in relation to the registered accommodation facilities.
A very positive employment trend is certified, with a sharp increase compared to the period May-September 2023. The sampled beds were 620,753, the arrivals sampled reached 127,623 of which 46,673 from the Italian market and 80,950 from the foreign market, the presences considered overall were 428,712 of which 143,172 from compatriots and 285,540 from beyond the Alps.
The room occupancy coefficient, given by the ratio between occupied rooms and total available rooms, is increasing compared to both 2023 and 2022, having reached 75.37% against 69.05% in 2023 and 75.09% in 2022.
In Alghero, the employment index is as usual above the provincial average and equal to 78.98% against 73.18% in 2023. Sassari and Golfo dell'Asinara stop at 67.59%, however in clear growth compared to 2023, where the homologous index had crystallized at 61.19%.
"The survey, extended to the hotel accommodation facilities of Sassari, Stintino, Alghero, Castelsardo, Porto Torres, Valledoria, Sorso and internal areas under the Gulf of Asinara - comments the President of FederalberghiConfcommercio of the Province of Sassari Stefano Visconti - comforts the operators in the sector and highlights a remarkable performance, improving by six percentage points compared to 2023 and in line with 2022, if we consider the entire period May - September."
From 2024, important confirmations will arrive, such as the return of foreign visitors.
"A very important asset for our destination, that constituted by tourists who choose our Island to invest their free time - continues Visconti - especially by choosing their temporary domicile not in August, which still remains the prerogative of compatriot customers, relative majority shareholder in that period of the year".
The operators hope to see airport connections with northern and central Europe strengthened, still too isolated from the North West of Sardinia. "We believe that the Riviera del Corallo airport - Visconti analyses - could be attractive for airlines that would like to consider the gradual introduction of further connections from Germany (our first market) and Northern Europe, given that these are mature markets and this could favour the load factor of the aircraft in service".
