The Tour de France closes, as usual, on the Elysian Fields, which see the sprint victory of the Belgian Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) but under the Arc de Triomphe the winner was Jonas Vingegaard.

The Dane snatched the yellow jersey from Tadej Pogacar, who had to settle for second place. On the third step of the podium went Geraint Thomas.

For cycling in Paris it was also a great day for the inaugural stage of the first edition of the women's Tour. The cyclists started from the Eiffel Tower and after 81.6 km they finished in a sprint at the Arc de Triomphe, won by the Dutch Lorena Wiebes (Dsm). Fourth place for the Italian Rachele Barbieri and seventh for Elisa Balsamo, who promises battle with the other Italians until the last stage, on 31 July next.
