"We need to move forward on the issue of the special statute and understand on what basis to do it." This is what the president of the Sardinia Region, Alessandra Todde, said on the sidelines of a discussion that took place in the last few hours at Palazzo Chigi. " This morning there was a meeting with Minister Calderoli, we talked about the need to discuss this issue that has been at a standstill for a long time ," she said. "There have already been meetings with other regions and it was important to discuss this point of view as well. In this sense, the start of the joint commission will be fundamental because it will serve to touch on some substantial issues relating to the rules."
The discussion did not touch on differentiated autonomy, on which we will have to wait a few weeks to know the outcome of the appeals of Sardinia and the regions of Campania, Puglia and Tuscany on the "Calderoli law". "For me they are two parallel tracks", Todde points out. "This morning we talked about the special statute of the Sardinia Region, which is obviously a different table compared to the issue of differentiated autonomy. We did not talk about it today with the minister, who obviously knows my position . There was a discussion in the constitutional court in the past few days and we are waiting for the response. For us the central issue is to give Sardinia the opportunity to compete on an equal footing with the richer regions. We believe there is an issue linked to resources, we hope we have managed to assert our reasons".
The discussion between Todde and the Government also concerned the energy issue: " There is a deadline that is linked to the November 21 ruling, regarding the appeal that the Sardinia Region made on the Dpcm on gas ", continues Todde. "We discussed asking - together with the Minister for the Environment - for a postponement of the ruling, because both parties believe there is the possibility of discussing an agreement soon. We discussed this possibility and agreed that it is important to ask for a joint postponement, I am satisfied with the meeting and also with the dialogue that took place thanks to Undersecretary Mantovani".
