Risk of paralysis in the Regional Council due to the Todde case. There are fears of a delay in the approval of the financial maneuver. After the holiday break, a series of meetings are scheduled with the majority to seek a solution to a delicate issue from a legal and political perspective. In the background, the no-holds-barred controversy between opposing sides. "Those who are not capable of presenting the documents for their own electoral campaign can hardly govern a Region, there is a question of credibility of the ruling class" . Thus Giovanni Donzelli , head of organization of the Fratelli d'Italia party, regarding the objections on electoral expenses raised against Alessandra Todde by the Guarantee Board of the Court of Appeal of Cagliari , which also sent the documents for her dismissal from the office of governor to the regional council of Sardinia.

"I want to hope," Donzelli added in a statement to La Stampa, " that those who profess to be champions of morality and transparency do not want to force democratic norms to save their seats."

The other centre-right forces are also attacking Todde and his majority and some, like the leader of the League Matteo Salvini , are hoping for a return to the vote as soon as possible: «I hope that the Sardinians, if the accusations are confirmed, can return to vote as soon as possible to have a president who respects the rules that apply to everyone» , said the secretary of the League.

For its part, the Five Star Movement is rallying around the governor . According to Alfonso Colucci , a Five Star MP very close to Giuseppe Conte, the injunction order requesting Todde's dismissal is a "wrong, abnormal, illegitimate measure".

"There must be two prerequisites, mandatory and typical, for the forfeiture - Colucci emphasizes in an interview with La Stampa: - the first is to have exceeded by more than double the limit of the electoral expenses allowed. But the guarantee board itself declares that this limit does not apply to the presidential candidate. The second prerequisite is the failure to submit the financial statement. But on page 5 of the provision itself it is explained that this failure to submit is not contested. Therefore, already from reading the provision, the contradictory and legal inconsistency of the forfeiture is evident" , concludes Colucci.

Vittoria Baldino , another M5S MP, also defends Todde: «The issues – she told Repubblica – that are being raised do not presuppose dismissal. She was elected, she is working well and will continue to do so . Instead, the comments of the centre-right are annoying. They are the ones who attack the judiciary when there are cases that concern their exponents? And now they are asking for the resignation of those who have not received funding from centres of power like they do. Precisely because she did not want funding from third parties, Alessandra did not appoint the agent».
